Singapore Cherry (Also known as Jamaica Cherry) is a very fast growing, small to medium size tree. The tree grows up to a height of 7-12 m and are multi-tiered with slightly drooping branches. The leaves of the tree are evergreen, grows alternatively, long pointed at the apex, oblique at the base.

The flowers are small in size, white in color. They resemble strawberry bloom, hence the common name, strawberry tree. The flowers last for only a day, falling to the ground in the afternoon. The fruits are red in color, soft and juicy and contain a large number of tiny yellow seeds which are dispersed by birds and fruit bats.

Jamaica Cherry tree is known to be thriving in even the soils devoid of nutrient and is able to grow even in drought. The tree puts on a flowering show to make it appear like a cheery tree and is sure to bring charm and positive energy in your gardens.
