Mosambi tree is an evergreen tree with lush growth. It is a small tree with irregular branches and relatively smooth, brownish grey bark. Leaves are compound with acuminate leaflets. The plant produces new growth during late winter to spring season and makes the tree look bright. The leaves produce citrus smell when crushed.

Flowers are white with excellent fragrance. Usually mosambi fruit is green and becomes light yellowish on ripening. The Mosambi fruit has a sweet taste and the flesh is juicy.
