Lagerstroemia Indica is a plant of the warm temperate zone. It is widely grown as an ornamental shrub or a small tree. It has very aggressive and dense root system for which it is used in soil stabilization projects. The special feature of this plant is that it blooms at a time when most trees are not blooming. If the plant is healthy, it will be covered with blooms that will last for months even during the hottest parts of the summer. Lagerstroemia grows rapidly and can also be grown in containers if cared for properly.
