The Indian almond tree (Badam) is a tall tree whose branches tend to grow horizontally and in tiers. The leaves are of a medium to large size. They are dark green, leathery and glossy but turn different shades of red or yellow with the season.
The Flowers are white to pale pink with 5 petals. The fruit is a small and covered in a hard shell. They turn purplish when ripe. The outermost part of the fruit is edible and quite sweet but has an acidic flavor.
The seeds in the middle is also edible, resembling the almond that you likely know well.
