Water Apple tree has a short, crooked trunk branching close to the ground, and a non-symmetrical open crown. The leaves are elliptical, but rounded at the base, they are aromatic when crushed. The bark is pinkish-grey in color.

The Flowers are white to yellowish white with four petals and numerous stamens.

The fruit is bell shaped edible berry, with colors ranging from white, pale green, or green to red or even black. When mature the tree is considered heavy bearer, yielding a crop of up to 100 fruits.
