It is a tree of Indian origin, whose some species are grown ornamentally while others are valued for their timber. The leaves are simple. It has large fragrant nocturnal white flower, fruit is a capsule, angled and is covered with flaky particles. It yields a reddish wood used for planking: often grown as an ornamental shed tree.
